Party In The Park
Had a great time helping kids paint river rocks at the Curry Arts booth at the annual (except 2 year hiatus due to covid) Party In The Park, July 9. Non-profit organizations had booths where kids could play games, do art projects, get their face painted, do an obstacle course, etc. The weather was great, lunch was provided for the kids and their families at no charge and everyone had a good time. 6x12 oil on panel

The Valerie J
Painted at Brookings Port. The midday lighting was not real interesting and it took me a while to spot this little orange boat. Loved the contrast of colors and reflection in the water! I did give her a clipper bow for a more interesting profile. Artistic license. 6x8 oil
Sunflowers
A friend gave me these lovely flowers and pitcher vase. I had to paint them to preserve their beauty! 9x12 oil
Grey, Calm, Cape Sebastian
Painted Looking towards Cape Sebastian. The water was glassy, like my eyes. Not a breadth of wind, no white caps. The water was a really cool color. 11x14 oil

Reaching For The Sky
From a visit to Stout Grove, part of Jedediah State Park just across the Oregon boarder into California. These redwoods are magnificent. Tried to capture their splendor. 12x6 Oil
Orange Floats
Painted this 6x8 at Brookings Harbor, the commercial docks area. It was a bit of a grey day but the floats hanging on the back of this boat seemed to glow. Found out from a fisherman that walked by that the setup is used to fish for black cod. Oil
Painting Plein Air at Lone Ranch Beach
Just a view of the scene and my small pochade set up. Family was visiting and I let them explore the tide pools while I painted. 6x8 oil

"A Day Off"
Painted this 6x8 (inches) at Brookings harbor. It was sunny but a chill wind was blowing. There's a lot of texture from thick paint. I forgot my visor so my eyes were getting seared by the sun. I worked quick so I could get back in my car to warm up.

"Lola Lake"
Done plein air at Lola Lake. The paint is very thick and was wet still when I took photo so there's some glare, sorry. The lake is so overgrown with reeds and grasses that only a small patch of open water was visible. I had to paint from the trail just over looking the scene below. It was a beautiful sunny day but very windy on the beach so we hiked a section of Coast Trail to get to this spot. 10x12 oil on board

"Hangin Out"
My neighbors were kind enough to let me paint their laundry. They've known me long enough to take my request in stride, Ha! 20 x 16 Oil

"Cascade"
With all the rain we were lucky to get this spring, the creek on our neighbor's property was roaring. 11x14 Oil

"White Tulips"
Stepping out of my very restrictive box to do a still life. I find painting still lifes as exciting as watching paint dry, hence I never do them. These white tulips at my sisters house with the modern black glass wall oven behind and a light source in a room behind to the right as well as another to the left of the scene was to good to pass up. Start to finish 1 1/2 hours. I was channeling Matisse. Hope I didn't disappoint him. 12x9 oil

"Waiting For Spring"
Lucky to have diverse forest in my backyard. Couldn't resist painting these big leaf maples and alders before they leaf out. The bare trunks covered in ferns and moss. "Waiting For Spring" 16x12 Oil
"River Shadows"
Another Pistol River painting. Never get tired of painting it. 11 x14 Oil. Is part of Las Laguna Art Gallery 50 & Over Show- Online Exhibition June 2 to 30th, 2022 www.laslagunaartgallery.com

Rare February Day
Forgot to post this plein air painting I did a couple weeks ago at Myers Beach. It's the same scene I painted and posted last September. Just goes to show how time of day, weather, lighting and how I'm feeling affects the outcome. It got pretty windy about half way through so I worked fast and hung on. 11 x 14 Oil
Cold, Dry Winter, Pistol River
Painted on location this week. Normally the river would be overflowing its banks this time of year. Hoping for some rain. 11 x 14 Oil
